Cassell Coliseum is loud

March 4th, 2010

The title of this post basically sums it up. For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, Cassell is home for the Virginia Tech men and women’s basketball teams and is VERY loud.
Since it was the men’s final home game Wednesday against NC State, fellow RT photographer Matt Gentry suggested I make the long, [...]

Year-in-review video

January 22nd, 2010

Although it looks like I’ve been slacking off in the video department lately, I’ve actually been finishing up this 2009 Year In Review video with co-worker Jordan Fifer. All in all, it took a solid month to complete … that’s with December/January vacations added to the equation.

I did another man-on-the-street video last night at the Roanoke school board meeting.
In order to fight budget deficits, the board voted to privatize the school bus system. The board also voted to lay off 58 employees, including 15 teachers.
Like my previous man-on-the-street video at the school board meeting, this video had great page [...]

Behind the scenes video

April 6th, 2009

A behind the scenes video I did of RT photographer Jeanna Duerscherl’s photo shoot of two area swimmers was published Sunday.
It’s the type of video that isn’t normally shown on newspaper websites, and it’s also the kind of video that isn’t normally considered when looking at the three typical newspaper video genres (event, feature and [...]

I spent today playing in the snow in the wake of Roanoke’s largest single day snowfall in nearly three years (7 inches). I made a video of sled riders at a local elementary school (creative, I know…), but I was happy with a technique I used in lieu of shaky video.
The embedded Youtube clip [...]
