I made the crossover to print last week… it was a great slice of life piece!
The story was about local sword enthusiasts who collect antique swords and practice ancient swordplay techniques. And I’m not talking about fencing, I mean true midevil-knight style fighting. The group was known as the Roanoke Sword Guilde, and [...]

A not-so-new, yet revamped style of video has really caught my attention lately. It’s a mixture between home movies and an art film, but I like to call it street video.
Editing video is great when it’s only an in-point and out-point.

…and so what if Lindsey Vonn’s potential absence ruins the whole entire thing for me. The best part of the Olympics thus far has been looking at Ralph Lauren’s ridiculous Olympic collection (for a mere $385, you too can wear an official Olympic Games Shawl Cardigan).

Another big snow is projected for Roanoke, Va., this weekend. Forecasts have us around 10 inches with some areas nearby getting as much as 15 inches. Here’s a handy webcam that Jordan and I set up to keep up to date with everything.

I finally added a second page to the video section on my portfolio site, chriszaluski.com.
It features 10 new videos, including a school bus rodeo, a local jazz night, spending the day with Mr. USA Tony Atlas, and a video profile of democratic governor hopeful Creigh Deeds, who lost the recent ‘09 election to Bob McDonnell.

Either way, I was pretty happy with the outcome. It ends up being a little more than 7:30 per mile pace … probably closer to 7:40 [...]

As I’m getting ready to leave for Charlotte for what’s sure to be an enjoyable evening as Dwight Schrute, I had a few links I wanted to post from this past week’s work.
Video: Jazz night with the Greg Ayers’ Trio at Market 202
Game of the week: Salem crushes Hidden Valley, 28-0
Healing together (graphic, not video)

…those Thai judges wouldn’t know quality if it smacked them in the face.
Which it did (see below).
The video was an attempt at winning a trip to Thailand and a chance to win $10,000. We really did fit the mold they were looking for, but sadly it did not work out the way we would [...]

I was in Boone and Blowing Rock this past weekend for Appalachian State’s Homecoming, and the leaves were incredible. Thought I’d share a few pictures from the trip. Both of those views are from the Rough Ridge Trail, mile marker 304 on the Blue Ridge Parkway.
Back in the real world, here are some [...]
